about me
I was sitting in my driveway as a kindergartener by my favorite birch tree when I proudly declared that I wanted to be an artist when I grew up. That early love of creating shaped my interests throughout grade school. It was my high school art teacher who introduced me to graphic design, and I quickly realized it was the perfect blend of fine art and the collaborative, client-focused problem-solving that challenged and inspired me. This discovery led me to apply for a student scholarship to attend The Art Institute of Philadelphia, where I graduated with an Outstanding Achievement Award.
I began my career as a Production Artist, putting together newspaper circulars for supermarkets. The skills I learned during my few months in that position have carried through every job I've had since. I learned to work efficiently and focus on details while managing tight turnaround times and deadlines.
I then transitioned to a creative role at ReminderMedia, where I worked across a variety of industries and focused on creating clean, organized designs for American Lifestyle magazine. As lead designer for internal and external communications, I developed branding guidelines, mentored designers, ran a summer internship program, and designed magazine covers and advertisements for the bimonthly publication.
For nearly the last decade, I have been with Star® Roses and Plants, where I currently serve as Design Manager. I oversee design projects for the company and its four brands: Knock Out®, Drift®, Bushel and Berry®, and Bloomables®. My work includes project management and creating a wide range of marketing materials, including websites, catalogs, brochures, presentations, packaging, advertisements, trade show displays, and point-of-purchase materials.
This role has been the perfect hybrid for me. I know that might sound a little cheesy, especially in the world of horticulture, but it’s true. I’ve been able to combine my love of nature with a structured career. I’ve brought digital experience alongside my print knowledge. I get to design every day while also stepping into a management role. Our company’s history and extensive plant library provide a strong foundation and stability, while each new plant introduction brings exciting new opportunities. It’s always a great time to create something beautiful!
